“Spice Up Your Table with Savory Sausage-Stuffed Jalapenos”

Sausage-stuffed jalapenos make a great appetizer. Jalapeno halves are filled with a cheese and sausage mixture for a delicious and spicy appetizer. Perfect for game day or any other occasion!

A few years ago, my mom introduced my husband and me to jalapenos stuffed with cheese. In truth, prior to that day, we had never heard of this combination!

Since then, we’ve made them for every occasion. They are great for hosting guests and for football Sundays or when we fire the grill.

A few weeks ago, I decided to mix the way I cook since I had some sausages in the freezer and some cream cheese sitting in the refrigerator! We sanitized those jalapenos (be sure to clean out all the seeds; otherwise, it’ll be quite spicy), stuffed them in the sausage cream cheese mix, and tossed them onto the grill.

  • Ground sausage (I used spicy)
  • Cream cheese
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Jalapenos cut in half and seeded
  • Green onion Chopped

If you’re making them in the winter and do not want to grill the food, it’s not a problem. Simply put them on a cookie sheet and bake them on the stove!

The flavor was incredible, and as we had leftover cheese, we went back to the shop the next day to purchase more jalapenos. We also had my grandparents over to play another round.

The bacon-wrapped jalapenos are perfect as a side dish with any meal. These sausage-stuffed jalapenos are also perfect for meals! We added grilling pineapple to our meal and finished it off!

There are various choices regarding cheese fillings, and you should select the one you like best! If you are a fan of cream cheese, go with it. Do you prefer things to be a little more creamy? What about goat cheese? You could even combine both and reduce the quantity below by half for each cheese type.

We like goat cheese for these as the texture and flavor are far more pronounced; however, when we’re cooking many of these for a gathering, we’ll make them into cream cheese. It is more affordable and is generally preferred by people!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground sausage
  • 8 oz cream cheese *or goat cheese
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese *shredded
  • 1 lb jalapenos cut in half, seeds removed
  • One green onion, diced
  • One tablespoon garlic powder

In a large mixing bowl, mix the cooked sausage with cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, and garlic powder.

Pour the mixture evenly into each jalapeno until they are filled.

Place jalapenos in tin foil and grill for 10 minutes. OR place them on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for approximately 20 minutes.
